Nike Free Metcon 4 Review
Are these good CrossFit shoes? Yes they are – provided you are lifting on the lighter end of things.
That’s a review of the men’s shoe – but the women’s shoe will be very similar – except the sizing advice – I can’t comment on that.
Generally speaking, Nike’s women sizes run shorter and narrower than the men’s – to match what is more common with women’s feet.
Nike Free Metcon 4 for Women – Overview
The Free Metcon 4 is a training shoe that features flexibility and support during intense workouts, and it is perfect for HIIT and gym workouts, boot camp, and sprints. It has the Huarache design components such as lace locks and rubberized heel area, and these features are what differentiate it from the earlier versions. These innovations help in securing your foot and restricts it from moving around inside the shoe.
This shoe got a bit heavier (1 oz) than the earlier iteration. However, the same excellent flexibility is still there, plus the spacious platform for ground contact as well as the comfortable and supportive cushioning. The sculpted topline was revamped to bring more convenience and support to your ankles, while the new toe overlay adds toe security and durability. The Huarache inspired even the tongue and the rubberized logo for a clean finish.
Nike brings back the more rigid and more flexible mesh link upper from the original Free Metcon. The mesh upper is breathable, keeping your feet comfortable with chain link mesh that cools and flexes as you increase the intensity of your workout. With its zonal functionality, the upper provides forefoot flexibility for fast movements and sprints, while the rigidity on the sides supports explosive lateral movements. The midfoot has a dynamic design that heightens support and performance, giving you confidence in each of your training sessions.
